Next steps: developing the Second National Action Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction

Formal consultation on the development of the Second National Action Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction concluded with the From Risk to Resilience Summit last month.

Since the Summit, AIDR has continued a productive partnership with NRRA to consolidate the inputs into possible lead actions for the Second National Action Plan.

Work began on the Second National Action Plan earlier this year with consultations including a set of online exploratory dialogues; a thought leadership webinar; the Catalysing Change Workshop; the Developing the Second National Action Plan discussion paper; the Reducing Disaster Risk in Australia survey; a succession of eight Deep Dive discussions; and the From Risk to Resilience Summit.

Following the Summit, Dayna Hayman’s Graphic Recording and a video curated by the National Recovery and Resilience Agency: Getting Australia Ready for the Next Disaster is Everybody’s Business have also been released.

Next the NRRA will release the Summit Report, which will be available to view on the AIDR Knowledge Hub.
