The new Recovery Matters webinars will get to the heart of key issues that are important in disaster recovery. Join the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience as we invite expert speakers to share what they know and help us move forward with bushfire recovery.

What is disaster recovery?

Many communities across Australia are now embarking on a journey of recovery from devastating bushfires. But when we talk about disaster recovery, what does that really entail? Attend this free 60 minute webinar to get across the basics and explore important aspects of disaster recovery in theory and practice.

John Richardson, Australian Red Cross

John will through key elements of disaster recovery, including the impacts on people, how people respond, what we can do to help navigate the recovery process, and practising self-care for recovery workers.

Kirsten Jenkins, Maroondah City Council

Kirsten brings a personal perspective from working in recovery for local and state government following events such as Black Saturday, supporting staff and community experiencing trauma, and key takeaways about being a recovery manager.

 

Who should attend?

Anyone with a role or interest (paid or voluntary) in supporting disaster recovery is welcome to attend.

Recovery Matters webinars will assist people who are newer to recovery to learn from experts as they get up-to-speed with good practice, and more experienced recovery workers to build, refresh and reflect on their practice as applied in current circumstances.
