The Disaster Resilient Australia-New Zealand School Education Network (DRANZSEN) is a national disaster resilience education initiative of the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR). It aims to foster and strengthen the ability of teachers and other educators to deliver disaster resilience education to young people confidently and consistently. AIDR encourages the development of young people’s disaster resilience as a fundamental life skill.

DRANZSEN groups exist in each state and territory. DRANZSEN seeks to engage in an inclusive way with a diverse range of participants.

Membership is open to anyone involved in the development and/or delivery of disaster resilience and related educational activities. The groups provide unique opportunities to share ideas and resources about disaster resilience education both locally and nationally. Formation of new collaborative partnerships and enhancement of existing working relationships between the agencies/services and education sectors is a valuable benefit of involvement.

Why participate in a Forum?

The Forums offer an unparalleled opportunity to interact with your fellow services and education sector colleagues. The program incorporates discussion and activities based on local needs. Groups will use their knowledge and expertise to identify priorities and pathways to increase disaster resilience in school aged young people in their locality.

Those who have an interest or expertise in disaster resilience education are encouraged to register.
