Content Writer – Review of Community Recovery Handbook
The Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR) is seeking expressions of interest from professionals with expertise in project management, research and communication to support the review of the Community Recovery Handbook (AIDR 2018). The content writer does not necessarily need to be a subject matter expert, but they should have experience/expertise in the broader disaster and/or emergency management sector.
The disaster recovery, resilience and risk reduction landscape has evolved in policy and practice since 2018.
The selected professional will:
- consider the current handbook and identify areas for improvement
- undertake an environmental scan and literature review of developments in good/best practice in community recovery for inclusion in a revised handbook
- design and conduct stakeholder consultation and analyse responses to gather diverse insights of what is needed from stakeholders in an updated Community Recovery Handbook
- to prepare 4 drafts (over the review period) of a revised Community Recovery Handbook, engaging in a consensus approach with the expert working group to incorporate their feedback following each draft.
The aim is to ensure the updated handbook includes the latest research, policy and good practice, takes a systemic approach and continues to guide and assist all organisations that work with communities before, during, and after a disaster. This includes government departments, emergency management agencies, NGOs, community groups, the education, health and social work sectors, and the private sector.
Throughout the process you will meet with the AIDR Knowledge Development team who will provide guidance and support where needed.
This is a paid role. Please submit your expression of interest, outlining your relevant expertise, project approach, timeline, costs/budget, and task allocation.
We anticipate the review process to be completed by mid-2026.
Submit your proposal along with your budget and availability to Dr Isabel Cornes, A/g Manager Knowledge Development – isabel.cornes@aidr.org.au.
The deadline for proposals is COB Wednesday 16th April.
