Fire preparedness tax deductions for primary producers

The Australian Taxation Office has prepared a fact sheet for primary producers to understand what fire preparedness and prevention expenses they can claim.

A fact sheet published by the Australian Taxation Office advises primary producers what they are permitted to claim in tax for fire preparedness actions on their farms.

The download explains entitlements to claim income tax deductions for costs incurred on fire preparedness and prevention activities, such as quick fill pumps, high rise drive under water tanks, light weight water tanks for utility vehicles, fire protection sprinkler systems and fire dams.

The fact sheet also addresses other on-farm expenses, such as fire extinguishers, fire shields, wind breaks, personal protective equipment and fire break maintenance.

The fact sheet applies to any registered primary producer in Australia.
