Land use planning hot topic at launch

AIDR has developed the Handbook Showcase webinar series to launch the latest publications in the Australian Disaster Resilience Handbook Collection.

AIDR hosted the first webinar on August 4, to launch and showcase the highly anticipated Land Use Planning for Disaster Resilient Communities Handbook. The webinar was a great success with very positive feedback and almost 400 participants on the day.

The webinar featured three expert speakers as they unpacked the principles and guidance presented in the handbook. They shared insights on the role of land use planning in preventing future disaster losses in new developments and enhancing the resilience of existing communities.

AIDR is extremely grateful to the speakers: Professor Alan March, University of Melbourne; Professor Barbara Norman, University of Canberra; and Duncan McLuckie, NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and Chair of the National Flood Risk Advisory Group.
