New professional development resource for teachers
AIDR has collaborated with the Minderoo Foundation and Cool Australia to develop a course for teachers on teaching fire and flood resilience.
The new course 'How to teach a unit on fire and flood resilience' provides a roadmap for how teachers can approach teaching a resilience unit in their own classroom. While primarily focused on fire and flood resilience, it also acknowledges the importance of an all-hazards approach to disaster resilience education.
In this course, teachers will learn:
- background knowledge on fires and floods
- principles of disaster resilience education
- how to build disaster resilience in the community
- how to design and implement this unit in the classroom
- tips and tricks, including any pitfalls to try and avoid.
