New toolkit supports Public Information and Warnings Handbook

New resources are available for agencies briefing their Public Information Officers on the recently released Public Information and Warnings Handbook.

AIDR has released new resources to support the implementation of the Public Information and Warnings Handbook. The resources are designed to support those responsible for briefing Public Information Officers to better communicate the handbook's content.

The Public Information and Warnings toolkit is aimed at agency representatives conducting internal briefings and training sessions and can be modified to suit each agency’s needs.

The toolkit includes slides that feature speaking notes and cover the fundamentals outlined in the handbook. The slides support briefings and make the training process more engaging.

An informative poster has also been prepared, clearly outlining Australia’s Warning Principles and Total Warning System. Designed to be accessible, the poster is intended for display in communal areas for wider benefit.

A Warnings Collection on the Knowledge Hub is under development, which will include footage of the warnings panel held at AFAC18.

Note: The briefing materials are intended as an overview of the Public Information and Warnings Handbook but do not cover all of its elements. The toolkit and slides should be considered a supplement to other formal training.
